AERIAL DANCE

AERIAL DANCE

In aerial dance, the body of the dancer moves in three dimensions, as two tissues or one hammock which hangs from the ceiling, is incorporated in the choreography . Aerial dance, offers quick strengthening of the entire body, especially the upper part, which in other types of exercise is neglected. The rapid and significant growth of muscle tissue increases metabolism, while simultaneously the connective tissues are strengthened, reducing the chances of injury from everyday activities. The body is not only stronger, but also becomes more «intelligent». It learns to use the least force to achieve the desired result, cultivating the synchronization and coordination of the movements. The use of the weight of the body on the air, decongests the vertebrae and helps the body to “open up” and become more flexible.
Aerial dance, appeals to all ages. For children, climbing is a symbolic way to grow, to reach adults. For adults, it is a way of exceeding their kinetic patterns and the limits of their body.
The development of such abilities, raises the confidence and self-esteem of those who practice, as they see themselves accomplishing what before seemed impossible. The limit of the gravity is removed and the training acquires the element of experimentation and adventure, through the sense of height and adrenaline. Self-image improves, as they see their bodies on the air creating- while they dance with the tissues- images of rare artistic beauty and poetry.
